April almost dies saving Bear but Bear saves her. We learn how Bear ended up there, April and her father argue and become close. Now I know this is part magical realism <-is that the word? Anyway, April slowly befriends Bear, she feeds him and gets the plastic off his foot and they become friends. April meets a skinny polar bear that has some plastic and crap wrapped around his foot. Hell with it, I’ll put it in a spoiler tag. Her father is always busy so April wanders the island (Bear Island) and picks up crap from people that made it all the way to the island.
